I have used my smart phone to check the status of my posting and any academic updates on my Walden portal. My smart phone gives me the freedom and flexibility to check and respond to emails, read my colleague's and instructor's comments on my posting and also to check my grades. Of course my smart phone is a device with a small screen area, so I cannot use it to type elaborate articles, for which I use my desktop. However my smart phone offers extreme flexibility as I can connect to my Walden portal from anywhere at any point of the day/night.
I really do not need an laptop right now. However, for others colleagues of this course who have full time jobs, a laptop would be really really helpful.
According to the Tuckman Team Stage model, we are in the Storming stage. Clearly we have crossed the first stage of Forming, where team building takes place. In the Storming stage, ideas from team members are put on the discussion table, where instructors guide the team members in discussing the material and gaining new insights.

MHRM 6100+WEEK 2
I have used different mobile technology and social media earlier. SMS is very popular among employees of Air India. We use it all the time for staying in touch when we are flying. Social networking sites like Facebook, orkut help me keep in constant touch with my colleagues and friends. After getting married and coming to the US, SMS, IM and video chat play a very important role to help me keep in touch with my family. What I really like about video chat is the fact that it helps me to talk to my folks in real time. After joining Walden, these same technologies are helping me to enhance my learning experience. I am able to stay in constant touch with my faculty and class though we are geographically separated by hundreds of miles. More importantly such tools help the virtual learner to learn things at his/her own pace. In other words social networking tools are the 'glue' that helps bind the virtual class together thereby filling part of the gap left due to the lack of a physical classroom. Additionally the proliferation of handheld devices (smartphone, net book, tablets) has further broken down constraints due to location and time.I am able to type this on my smartphone and able to post it on to Walden portal when flying at an altitude of 35000 feet above ground level, on a recent trip from New York city!
